The Big Thankyou!

Kate and I have so many things to be thankful for and so many people to thank who  have given us help and support as we have set up Littleblackpig at Willow Farm,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that yesterday we had a bit of a do!

We were not able to invite everyone and everyone we invited was not able to come………… but still we had a jolly day!

Here are some of the photos …………. but unfortunately I was a little busy during the event which was from 1 – 4 so the photos are cheifly of the setting up and the end. Anyone who has any other photos please email them to me alijbowden@hotmail.com and as long as I am not in them I will put them on the blog !

So we were up at 6 yesterday and our friends Dave and Helen, who luckily run an events management company based  in Derbyshire called Unique Solutions, had arrived the evening before and camped out over night to be ready to calm our nerves and basically do everything they could to make the day go well.

The pig arrived and was made ready for the hog roast. It of course was one of ours ……… a middle white / saddleback cross weighing in at 60kg.

Tina was in charge of cooking the pig, as we had a little bit much on being the hostesses with the mostest!

There are no more photos from me of the hog roast …. I did get some and it was delicious but I missed out on the crackling which was superb……….. apparently!

We were blessed with a beautiful day and the gazebos we had hired were essential as the sun was relentless…. there was a good breeze though which made it all very bearable.

The volunteers ………….are  great people we are lucky enough to have lending a hand here and there . One of the  things we are very aware of is how lucky we have been to have met some superb people who just love joining in………… the help we have had from people just keen to pitch in and pick up a spade or a broom and take a watch over lambing time, has been great suppor,t and we have made some great friends of some wonderful people…………….. am I getting too gushy ……………… well let me just say that in the briefing Kate gave the volunterers just before we kicked of yesterday  ………… she became overwhelmed with emotion and had a right wobble going on ………… we will always be greatful for the support and friendship we have and value it hugely!…………. enuff said!!!!!!!!!!

Not only did we have a hog roast but we also had cakes for pudding…….. made by friends, family and neighbours………… although our neighbours are our friends……….. our family are our friends too………… so people made us some cakes kind of covers it all.

These were all made by Tara, who had not really been into cake making before this …………..   Di also made some lovely cakes I did not get the chance to photograph before they were eaten…………. the banana cheesecake she made for Kate and I for after the do was wonderful and enjoyed by all our helpers before they went home.

We had a welly wanging competition in the hay field and prizes were awarded 🙂

Jenny and John worked hard in the shop………… selling out of faggots and doing a roaring trade on our award winning sausages and bacon.

After everyone left we had a brief chance to catch up and it seems that everyone had enjoyed the day…………

The Adams family were all brilliant help …. Tara the buns and cake …………. Nigel had sourced the alcohol .. and Keiran was just his usual very helpful self and also enjoyed the day.

In fact everyone was just great………………………..

things we would do differently next time ……………… hmmmm there may be a next time if people would want to come back?

1. more straw bales for seats

2.  more glasses.

We had about 120 people visit and with all the volunteers a total of about 140 people.

What a blast !!!

I just wish I had had a little bit more time to talk to everyone………….but everyone might have just had a lucky escape!

Oh and finally I made a movie for the day ……………. littleblackpig the movie………… a series of photos set to music ………… I will try to upload it …………… maybe tomorrow.

Kate has just gone to bed and I am off too…………. tired and happy a good combination 🙂
