First things first Kate has only gone away until Thursday and I actively encouraged her to go…….. she was exhausted after project managing Christmas turkeys, gammon and sausages and bacon. It all came together and we have had lovely words of thanks and praise from our friends and customers. So when Kate left to go to Cornwall yesterday I was delighted, as it is difficult for her to unwind here as currently all she sees are jobs pending 😦 I on the other hand……. yes I do have a list of jobs but I am poised waiting for the rain to stop first……. although I have been out and done the morning rounds and got soaked once already today.
Whilst doing the morning rounds in the rain……… my thoughts wandered to, one of the best days of my life, our Civil Partnership, nearly 7 years ago. It was a great day, one we shared with a small group of friends and family. The Registrar was lovely, although on first meeting I did a very good impersonation of not knowing Kate, as I got her date of birth wrong and didn’t know what to call what she did for work…….. talking sense was not the right job title apparently!
This is us with Harriet, one of our witnesses.
Anyway what made me think back to that lovely day was …………
Rain was never mentioned in our vows! We talked about muddling along together and being there for one another but we never said …. even when it rains all the time ! The rain is tougher than the cold, so I can understand us not mentioning the cold…… but the rain ….. does get you down a bit. I suppose then we had a house, and didn’t really expect to be living in a caravan on a Farm on day. Although having said that it was a year later that we went to Wiltshire to do a Pig keeping course.
And hatching chickens in the garage !!
And learning new skills.
Amazing really to think how things have changed for us……….. for the better ………. and even despite the rain …. life is good 🙂 Also I think it may be stopping …… the rain that is !
Thank you for the trip down memory Lane! Your Civil Partnership was a wonderful (teary) day indeed!
I believe a few dry days are on the way….hang in there!
Love JenXX
